Professor Ramalingam Chithiramohan is a Consultant Psychiatrist and former Deputy

Medical Director and Director of Governance and Service Effectiveness at the Birmingham and Solihull Mental health Foundation Trust.

He is a visiting Professor of Psychiatry at University of Madras in India and a former external examiner in University of Malaya in Malaysia.  He has been a Clinical Tutor and Director Medical Education for many years. He has served on the Court of Electors and the Council of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.  

He has been very active in post graduate medical education throughout his career.  He has extensive teaching interests.  He has delivered more than 2000 invited lectures on a range of topics (Schizophrenia/ Bipolar Disorder/Depression/ Dementias/ Comorbidities with mental health/ Physical health issues in mentally ill/ sleep disorders/management of common mental disorders in primary care) in the UK and abroad.

He is currently actively involved with the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) in delivering education in Low and Middle income countries. He has developed a number of online training modules on Vascular Cognitive impairment/ HIV and mental health, timely diagnosis of dementia and Dementias with Parkinsonian features. He is also a member of the WPA action panel on evidence- based psychopharmacology.
