The session will cover:
- - A brief history of cannabis
- - The endocannabinoid system
- - Phytocannabinoids and what they do
- - A brief evidence base for use of cannabis in psychiatry
- - Side effects and contraindications
- - Prescribing
Speakers
Dr Niraj Singh is a Consultant Psychiatrist and specialises in Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry. He has extensive experience in treating adults with ADHD, mental illness associated with Autism, intellectual disabilities as well as other mental illnesses. He is actively involved in teaching both undergraduate medical students and is a registered clinical supervisor as well as educational supervisor for higher trainees. He has published in well-known journals and is involved currently in research projects.
Professor Michael P Barnes is a Professor of Neurological Rehabilitation, neurologist and now a cannabis physician. He is chair of the Medical Cannabis Clinicians Society and also of the Cannabis Industry Council.
