COVID-19 Special Measures – S12 and Approved Clinician licence 12 month extension
Please see this important update received from the Mental Health Act Approvals Service South dated 14/4/2020 relating to S12(2) and Approved Clinician renewals.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the DHSC has issued temporary supplementary AC & S12(2) Instructions (2020), which came into effect from 14th April 2020. These supplementary Instructions (2020) will enable approval extensions of 12 additional months for those applicants whose cycle of approval is due to expire by no later than 30th September 2020. For details of how this affects you please don't forget to read the important update mentioned above.

All Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician courses are supported by experienced Solicitors, AMHPs, and Consultant Psychiatrists.
Courses are open to candidates from all professions and are validated by the Mental Health Act Approval Panel England South.
Does completing a course mean I’m accredited?
Attending one of these courses is only part of the process to becoming accredited.
We would advise you to check with your local Section 12 and Approved Clinician Approvals Lead for information on the criteria for approval/re-approval, and to confirm which course is suitable for your requirements before making your booking.

- posting a cheque to the Division Office along with the relevant registration form
