Promoting LGBTQ+ webinars

After receiving numerous pieces of feedback and suggestions from members, the College’s Trent and West Midlands Divisions are delighted to be delivering a webinar series focusing on LGBTQ+ mental health.

LGBTQ+ people have a higher prevalence of mental health difficulties, compared to many of the population. Yet, most of us know little about the challenges and barriers they experience.

Our LGBTQ+ mental health webinar series aims to look into the various mental ill health conditions commonly experienced within the LGBTQ+ community, share research, and provide the tools to better equip care givers working with and supporting this group.

The full series can be booked, giving access to all four sessions, or alternatively each session can be booked separately. To accommodate the busy schedules of our members, all sessions will be recorded and available to watch on demand afterwards.

The first session will be taking place on Thursday 28 SeptemberTrauma, substances, and suicide – and will look at some of the most commonly experienced mental ill health conditions by those who are LGBTQ+.

The remaining three sessions will run until February and will cover:

  • Supporting Transgender Adult Patients – Friday 8 December
  • Considerations of age, ethnic, social and religious backgrounds while working with LGBTQ+ patients – Thursday 25 January 2024
  • LGBTQ+ Youth Mental Health – Friday 23 February 2024
