CPD eLearning: round up of what’s new

Since the last quarterly update, the following new content has been released on CPD eLearning:

  • Free to access: Delivering greener, more sustainable, net zero mental healthcare
    • This module, based on RCPsych’s (n.d.) Net Zero Mental Health Care: Guidance and Education, is for anyone delivering mental healthcare. It provides guidance on how to make tangible changes across service delivery and the mental healthcare pathway. It is everyone’s responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of healthcare as part of a wider effort to achieve sustainability and net zero. CPD credits: 1
  • Rising rates of involuntary detention: is there a solution (RCPsych Congress 2024)
    • Ahead of their presentation at the RCPsych’s International Congress 2024, Dr Patrick Keown and Prof Claire Henderson spoke with CPD eLearning Podcast Editor, Dr Nadia Imran. In this podcast, they discuss rising rates of involuntary detention in the age of deinstitutionalisation and the implementation of Advance Choice Documents (ACDs). CPD credits: 0.5
  • Discharging risky patients: England and Wales
    • The pathway to discharge is complex by nature, not least due to the number of agencies that need to be involved. This module aims to provide general adult and forensic psychiatrists with ideas about how to conduct a high-quality, safe and effective discharge from a mental health in-patient setting. CPD credits: 1
  • Improving mental health outcomes for autistic women (RCPsych Congress 2024)
    • Following their presentation at Congress, Dr Conor Davidson, Dr Alison Lennox and Ms Rhiannon Hawkins spoke with CPD eLearning Podcast Editor Dr Nadia Imran to discuss the gendered diagnosis gap, unique barriers to accessing mental health care, and reasonable adjustments that can be made for autistic women. CPD credits: 0.5
  • Quality improvement module 6: An introduction to the run chart and using data for improvement (rcpsych.ac.uk)
    • The run chart is a powerful visual tool that can be used to guide quality improvement initiatives in healthcare. The method involves measuring significant results after making a change to a process and does not require significant mathematical ability or computer programming skills – a pen and paper are all you need. In this module we will show you how to use this straightforward technique to improve your service. CPD credits: 1
  • An introduction to trauma-informed care (TIC): Part 2
    • This module helps you develop your understanding of trauma-informed care according to the ‘four Rs’ (SAMHSA, 2014), which focus on: realising the prevalence of trauma in mental health settings; recognising signs and symptoms of trauma; responding to trauma with effective interventions; and resisting retraumatisation. The module also further explores the psychophysiology of trauma, presenting a strengths-based approach to formulation, treatment planning and care, as well as a psychophysiological approach to assessment and treatment. CPD credits: 1
