College’s first International Diploma launched

RCPsych’s first diploma course in older adults’ mental health launched this month (September).

We’re delighted to welcome the first cohort to the course who have recently commenced their studies.

We have a fantastic group of 15 enthusiastic learners from across the globe and all international divisions who currently practise in the following countries: South Africa, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, Afghanistan, Jamaica, Bahamas, Qatar, Ghana and Jersey.

We asked learners what they most hope to gain from the course, responses included wanting ‘to apply the knowledge gained from this course in better management of geriatric patients with mental illnesses’ and the opportunity of ‘an exchange of experiences with older adult psychiatrists and increased knowledge in the field’.

Learners also hope to 'learn about diagnostic and management practices at the cutting edge of old age psychiatry' and 'expand their knowledge about the field, improving and promoting the quality of patient care'.

The RCPsych International Diploma in Older Adults’ Mental Health is a new knowledge enhancement programme, designed for doctors outside of the UK wishing to upskill or refresh their understanding of how the most common mental disorders in older adults present and are managed.

This hybrid eLearning and webinar course consists of nine modules delivered over 12 months and is designed to be practical and clinically focused.
