Dr George El-Nimr
Chair, Faculty of Neuropsychiatry
Dr George El-Nimr is a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist in Stoke-on-Trent, providing care for patients with neuropsychiatric disorders in various clinical settings. He is a Fellow of the College, an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Keele University, and the neuropsychiatry module organiser for the local RCPsych membership course. He supports multidisciplinary educational programmes in other universities and has published a number of scientific and educational papers and video materials and has also co-authored a chapter on neuropsychiatry service models for the Oxford Textbook of Neuropsychiatry.
George has reviewed scientific papers for high impact medical journals and co-developed a CPD online module on Huntington’s disease (HD) and another on fronto-temporal dementia, for the College. He supports the GMC as a member of the Station Management Group for the PLAB 2 exam.
George has organised 15 successful neuropsychiatry national/international conferences. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the HD Association for England and Wales.
Since 2012, he has been serving as an Executive member for the Faculty of Neuropsychiatry and as the Academic Secretary since 2014 where he has been responsible for organising the Faculty’s annual conferences with excellent feedback. He has published summary reports of those events in national scientific journals and previously took the lead representing the Faculty at the Public Engagement Committee.
George is particularly keen on leading further work to ensure that our services are equitably accessible and are appropriately commissioned to attain excellent standards. His other priorities include medical education, streamlining neuropsychiatric training and enhancing international collaboration.
George enjoys reading, particularly poetry, and playing table tennis.
