Alexia is an ST4 in child and adolescent mental health on the North East London scheme, currently working with the Adolescent Mental Health Team in Newham.

Prior to medicine, she worked in International Development, focusing on the practical and ethical aspects of sustainable water supplies in Tanzania.

Now, alongside her medical practice she is also an active member of an environmental movement in Dorset, and has a particular interest in land use, nature connectedness and nature-based therapeutic interventions, with reference to the knowledge frameworks relating to our place in nature.

Her favourite place is the Dorset coastline where she loves walking and swimming.

  • Organiser and chair of the pan London CAP trainee conference on CAMHS and the eco-crises: Evidence, epistemologies and action
  • Establishing 'Nature in Mind', a project co-delivered by Newham CAMHS and the London Wildlife Trust promoting positive benefits of being outdoors in nature on mental health through practical nature activities, for children and young people referred to CAMHS
  • Undertaking a systematic review looking at the evidence base for nature-based interventions in mental health care for children and adolescents
