Join this free webinar to discover more about the new framework which aims to prepare psychiatrists for working in healthcare in the digital age following from the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Learn how the new framework focuses on providing psychiatrists with the digital leadership skills to navigate multiple levels in healthcare systems in order to improve patient outcomes, increase clinician efficiency, as well as enabling digital mental health services for patients. 
 
Hear about the next steps and the ongoing work to creating training resources to deliver those capabilities and how psychiatrists are key to influencing the services they work for, and to enhancing the information that is both recorded and used to support care and research.

Q&A

Dr Faith Ndebele (Chair) 
Dr Faith Ndebele is a Digital Consultant Psychiatrist working in general adult mental health (EIP and community) and is the Digital Innovation Lead Mental Health at Solent NHS Trust.   She is also the Clinical Lead for neurodiversity pathways for Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Faith is the Events Lead for the RCPsych Digital Psychiatry Special Interest Group (DPSIG). 

An NHS consultant psychiatrist since 2003, Faith has worked in a variety of settings and prior to her current role worked for over 10 years as a consultant psychiatrist in psychiatric intensive care (PICU).  She is one of the first consultant psychiatrists to pioneer 100% remote working in the NHS and is excited to contribute to the development of this innovative role which includes digital remote clinical assessments, clinical and educational supervision of postgraduate doctors, teaching and research.   

Her interests include exploring and developing flexible, novel ways of working in mental health supported by technology, as well as contributing to various projects that promote staff wellbeing. 


Dr Asif Bachlani
Dr Bachlani works as Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead for the ASD pathway at Priory Woking Hospital.  
 
Asif is also an Associate Non-Executive Director (NED) for Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust with his portfolios being data and digital.  
 
Asif has held various managerial and digital positions in NHS and independent sector including Clinical Director, Associate Medical Director, Clinical Lead for Mental Health Outcomes and Chief Clinical Information Officer.  Due to his interest in mental health outcomes,  Asif was also the NHS London Clinical Lead for Mental Health Outcomes for 2 years (2017-19). 
 
Asif has co-authored various policy documents and papers around data and digital include NHS London HoNOS analytical framework and HLP Development of Primary Care MH Models. Asif was also one of co-authors of two part series on  Digital literacy in contemporary mental healthcare in RCPsych Advances (2022).   
 
Asif has had an interest in clinical value of data and data literacy for clinicians.  Asif set up 1st ever data events for clinicians initially regionally in 2018 and then nationally from 2019 via RCPsych Better Data, Better Care series of conferences which is now in its 4th year.  Asif is the lead co-author of the RCPsych Data and Digital Literacy Competencies for all Psychiatrists which was launched in March 2023.   


Dr Ross Runciman
Ross works as a general adult consultant psychiatrist at Wotton Lawn Hospital in Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. Ross is also the medical lead for quality improvement as well as leadership and quality champion for Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. 
 
He was the RCPsych Psychiatric Trainees’ Committee chair 2019/2020 and involved as a trainee in developing the new 2022 curricula. Ross was in the first cohort of RCPsych’s Leadership and Management Fellows Scheme and now an associate programme director of the LMFS. Ross is the lead co-author of the RCPsych Data and Digital Literacy Competencies for all Psychiatrists which was launched in March 2023.  


Dr Subodh Dave

Subodh was elected as Dean in 2021. He holds this role until 2026. He has overall responsibility for setting standards for and facilitating the effective delivery of psychiatric education and training.   

Subodh is an international medical graduate having done his MD and DNB (Psychiatry) from Grant Medical College, Mumbai, India. He moved to the UK in 1995 and obtained his CCT in General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry. He works as Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist in Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and is Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Bolton. He is Deputy Director of Undergraduate Medical Education and in that role has led innovations in introducing and embedding simulation and lived-experience involvement in the training of medical students at the University of Nottingham.   

Subodh has held training roles at all levels spanning undergraduate, foundation and postgraduate training both in the UK and internationally.   

He is passionate about ensuring that training, assessment structures and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programmes lead to improvements in patient care and clinical outcomes.
