Event Information

This event is Session 3 only of the ADHD Webinar series.

The third session in this series will explore the assessment and treatment of ADHD.  Professor Adamou and Dr Perera will discuss the essentials for the assessment of Adult ADHD including the key components to ensure a good quality assessment as well as the Pharmacological management of ADHD in adults with various practical considerations.

 There will be 25-30 minutes scheduled at the end of the webinar for a Q&A session with delegates. Please submit any questions you have via the Q&A function throughout the event.

We are delighted to announce the following speakers for Session 3 of the ADHD webinar series:

Dr Jessica Gibson - Event Chair
Dr Jessica Gibson is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead for the Oxfordshire NHS Adult ADHD Service, which she helped establish in 2021. Prior to this, Dr Gibson had a long-standing interest and practice in ADHD whilst working in AMHTs and in-patient settings for 23 years. She is keen to share her fascination with all things ADHD!

Dr Gibson is involved in a lot of ADHD education locally and regionally. This includes regular training in ADHD diagnosis, comorbidity and treatment to psychiatry trainees, GP registrars, medical students, mental health professionals as well as colleagues in third-sector organisations. 

She is very interested in research as well and was the Research Psychiatrist for a treatment trial in bipolar disorder for the University of Oxford. Dr Gibson has published in leading journals in the areas of mood disorder and perinatal psychiatry.  She is also an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

 

Professor Marios Adamou OBE - Speaker

Professor Marios Adamou, OBE, is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in ADHD and Autism in adults. He has integrated innovative technology, including AI, in mental health diagnostics. He holds an MD, PhD, and MBA, and has developed multidisciplinary treatment models for ADHD and Autism in adults. In his non-executive roles within the NHS, Prof. Adamou has demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement, risk management, and healthcare service development. He has contributed to the transformation of clinical services and leadership roles, showing exceptional stakeholder engagement and project management abilities. His work in psychiatric practice, education, and leadership focuses on improving mental health service accessibility and efficacy.

 

Dr Bhathika Perera - Speaker

Dr Bhathika Perera is an Associate Professor at UCL and an honorary Consultant Psychiatrist in Intellectual disabilities working in North East London NHS Foundation Trust.  His research and clinical interests include ADHD in people with and without intellectual disabilities and other neurodevelopmental disorders. He chaired the committee producing the RCPsych College report on ADHD in people with ID. 

 

This event is Session 3 only, of a full webinar series on ADHD and mental health.

  • Session 3 – 13 March 2024, 2-4pm– Assessment and Treatment of ADHD
  • Session 4 – 23 April 2024, 2-4pm – Comorbidity and Differential Diagnosis.
