RCPsych launches Public Mental Health Leadership Certification Course

After many months of hard work and preparation, we’re delighted to have launched registration for our Public Mental Health Leadership Certification Course.

The College and its Public Mental Health Implementation Centre (PMHIC) are launching a course that aims to create local champions of a population-based approach to mental healthcare.

The Public Mental Health Leadership certification course is designed for both UK-based and international mental health professionals and policymakers, with the aim of shifting the clinician’s focus from intervention to prevention – promoting an interlinked, system-wide understanding of healthcare, rather than a set of individual and disconnected interventions.

Endorsed by Professor Chris Whitty, the Chief Medical Officer for England, and Professor Kevin Fenton, President of the Faculty of Public Health, this innovative course takes place entirely online and comprises of 50 hours of study time made up eLearning, self-study and interactive live webinars.

The course’s development involved stakeholders from the advisory board to the PMHIC and input from an overarching Expert Reference Group, which includes experts by lived experience.

The idea is to create a living, breathing course that is focused on implementation. We want to train globally competent physicians who are locally invested, applying knowledge and skills for the benefit of local communities.

The course is designed for both UK-based and international mental health professionals and policymakers.
