Support our 2024 General Election campaign: Preventing mental illness

The UK general election is set to be held on Thursday 4 July 2024.

The College has been actively working to influence the political parties on the importance of prevention and treatment of mental illness throughout the run up to the election.

We’ve built a general election and manifesto hub so that you can support the campaign too.

We are calling for every political party to commit to making mental ill-health a top priority. We have published our manifesto which outlines five key areas where any future government can make a real difference.

The College has also produced information for members on supporting their patients’ right to vote, including information on when and how to register. It’s important to remember this is the first general election which will include new rules around voter ID.

Anyone who would like to support our campaign should take full advantage of our toolkit, which we will continue to update with a variety of useful resources. This includes social media graphics which can easily be shared on a variety of platforms and with family, friends and colleagues.

The College and our representatives are legally required to remain politically impartial during the pre-election period. We have developed political engagement guidance which provides members, staff and other College affiliates with additional advice on how to campaign responsibly.

More information, including access to our manifesto itself, is available on our 2024 General Election hub.
