Dr Devika Patel
Presidential Scholar for Women and Mental Health
Dr Devika Patel is an ST6 General Adult Psychiatry trainee currently working in Perinatal Psychiatry in the West Midlands. She has a specialist interest in women’s mental health, particularly the impact of hormonal transitions such as the menopause on mental wellbeing.
Her clinical experience has shaped her commitment to gender-informed, equitable care and inspired her to contribute to the Women’s Mental Health Strategy. She is especially interested in collaborative education with the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to equip psychiatrists with the skills to better understand and manage hormone-related mental health challenges.
Dr Patel holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership, Research and Medical Education and is passionate about using education to drive sustainable change. She is committed to promoting equity in both patient care and the medical workforce, ensuring that services are inclusive and reflective of the diverse communities they serve.
