Dr Priyadarshini Sur
Presidential Scholar for Women and Mental Health
Priya is an ST4 General Adult Psychiatry trainee, currently working in Liaison Psychiatry in Thames Valley. She completed medical school in India, where a public health placement focused on maternity care sparked her interest in the impact of domestic abuse and obstetric care on maternal mental health.
After completing core psychiatry training, Priya worked as a specialty doctor in perinatal mental health. During this time, she helped streamline referral pathways and developed a teaching programme in perinatal psychiatry for new staff.
As a Presidential Scholar for Women and Mental Health, Priya aims to advocate for trauma-informed care and address inequalities in mental health services. She is particularly interested in the early identification of mental health issues in women and in recognising their unique presentations across different life stages.
She is currently supporting the development of the College’s Women’s Mental Health Strategy and contributing to a joint education project with the RCOG.
