Dr Nataly Gibson
Presidential Scholar for Equity and Equality
Nataly is currently an ST5 in General Adult Psychiatry at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. Nataly is half Jamaican and half Welsh and has a keen interest in Black mental health and intersectionality. She is currently on the research team piloting Advance Care Documents as a way to boost equity for our patients. Nataly also volunteers as a mentor for young women in inner city environments and talks to children from minoritised ethnic backgrounds at events about becoming a doctor.
As an Equality and Equity Scholar, Nataly will be focusing on Intersectionality and its role in mental health, by developing a framework that the Royal College can use for the future. She is also looking at ways in which mentoring can aid psychiatrists from underrepresented groups.
