Dr Tom Hewson

Presidential Scholar for Retention and Wellbeing

Dr Tom Hewson is a registrar in forensic psychiatry working in the North West School of Psychiatry. He has a keen interest in supporting the psychiatric workforce and believes that this is crucial to the sustainability of mental health services and enhancing patient care. He co-founded the PsychStart mentoring scheme for medical students interested in psychiatry and recently co-designed and implemented a Trust-wide staff recognition scheme. He also has experience in designing and delivering induction programmes and educational initiatives for colleagues.

In his role as RCPsych Presidential Scholar for Retention and Wellbeing, Dr Hewson will be supporting the development and implementation of the RCPsych Retention Charter - a structured framework for organisations to adopt a systemic approach to the retention of psychiatrists.
