Dr Adrian James, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, said:
“The Health and Care bill introduced today in parliament is a real opportunity to improve mental healthcare in the UK.
“Reforms should ensure parity of esteem between physical and mental health which is why we want to see mental health representation on every Integrated Care Board. Proposals must also set a solid foundation for tackling the workforce crisis and addressing inequalities.
“We will be looking at the proposed changes in more detail over the coming weeks, working together with our members and decision makers to deliver better, integrated care for everyone.”
