The Government has announced 12 projects aimed at reducing rates of fatal drug overdoses will be given a share of £5 million in funding.

Dr David Bremner, Vice-Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Addictions Faculty, said:

“We support any investment in solutions to the ongoing drug related deaths crisis. This is a welcome opportunity to look at novel ways of ensuring evidence-based overdose interventions can embrace technology to further their much-needed impact.

“Widespread use of Naloxone, identification of those at risk of opioid toxicity and early notification of potentially fatal overdoses are all important aspects of a comprehensive approach to tackling this problem.”
