Membership survey focus groups

Research with a small group of our members indicates that psychiatrists feel overwhelmed with the challenges of working on the frontline of mental health services, but that they also feel positive about the work of the College.

The in-depth research was carried out with 15 members by the College’s research partner Research by Design – with the granular conversations being held with trainees; Black, Asian and minority ethnic members and SAS doctors.

The focus groups also indicated that the debate around the Annual General Meeting and Extraordinary General Meeting had damaged the perception of the College among SAS doctors.

Research by Design had hoped to speak with more members, but a number of people, who had planned to take part in the focus groups, pulled out due to overwhelming workload pressures.
