Reforming the General Medical Council (GMC) legislative framework
The Government has launched a consultation to reform how the GMC regulates medical practitioners, physician associates and anaesthesia associates across the UK.
Our initial discussions with College members have highlighted concerns with the Government’s proposals.
These concerns relate to the potential impact of the proposals on Certificate of Completion of Training (CCTs) as well as on the College postgraduate training structure, patient safety and fitness to practise processes.
The Government’s consultation is via an online survey with a deadline of 11.59pm on Tuesday 23 June 2026.
The College will be responding and we encourage members to do the same.
