The Royal College of Psychiatrists has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Publishing professional.

We are recruiting for the Head of Publishing and seeking an ambitious, dynamic, and creative person to lead our Editorial Team.

The successful candidate will have a wealth of experience in STM Publishing. They will work closely with the Publishing Team and College Editor to ensure that our academic journals thrive by advancing their reputation and reach, in a rapidly changing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with the College Editor, Publishing Team and Publishing Partner to develop the College’s portfolio of books and journals, BJPsych, BJPsych Bulletin, Advances, International and Open, and oversee the management and development of the recently launched BJPsych Journals App, supported by the team of three Managing Editors, the Senior Publishing Co-ordinator, and the Editorial Assistant.

They will manage the relationship with the publishing partner and collaborate closely with the journal editors and wider College community. The Head of Publishing will also support the College’s wider functions, collaborating with teams across the organisation.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with excellent experience of managing academic journals and partner relationships, who can demonstrate that they have the collaborative and negotiating skills to secure the best outcomes for the College and its publishing programme over time.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have a strategic vision for the future development of the journals, books, and App. Keeping up in a changing world is not enough, we need someone who shares and can deliver our ambition to compete with the best.
