The Royal College of Psychiatrists is seeking one Patient or Carer Representative to join the South Eastern Division Executive Committee as a Worker. The successful applicant will have recent lived experience of mental health services or caring for someone with mental illness.

The Patient Representative or Carer Representative will be an integral member of the committee working with the chair and vice chair, to engage the wider membership and partner organisations in advocating for the South Eastern Division patient group.

The Patient Representative/Carer Representative will assist the Division in several projects. One of these projects is to develop a 3-year strategy for the Division and will meet up throughout the year to formulate this strategy.

The Patient Representative or Carer Representative are expected to attend and contribute to these projects, and possibly to attend some of the executive committee meetings and collaborate with committee members to complete pieces of work, such as input into consultation documents and college papers.

RCPsych has developed a high media profile and is a leading organisation in terms of equality and diversity. It was a recent winner of Charity of the Year at the European Diversity Awards. This is an excellent opportunity for patients and carers to contribute their perspectives on important mental health issues for the South Eastern Division and be part of our ongoing strategy and communications development.
