Patient Representative x1 Examinations Sub-committee (ESC)

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is seeking a patient representative to join the Examinations Sub-committee (ESC).  The successful applicant will have recent lived experience of mental health services or caring for someone with mental illness. This role will appeal to someone with an interest in education. 

The ESC is sub-committee of the Education and Training Committee and is responsible for all aspects of the Membership examination (MRCPsych). 

The Patient Representative will be an important member of the ESC, bringing a lived experience perspective to setting standards in the examination. It is a requirement that they are not a qualified health professional. 

The ESC meets multiple times a year with most meetings held online and one face-to-face meeting at the College in London.  The ESC is constituted of consultant psychiatrists involved in setting College examinations, as well as trainee psychiatrist representatives. 

The Patient Representative is expected to attend ESC meetings and contribute to the strategic work of the committee. 

The Patient Representative must have access to their own computer equipment and internet connection to attend meetings.
