CAMHS pathways
A young person has lost a considerable amount of weight, is no longer eating and has disordered and negative thoughts about their appearance.
They have an appointment with their GP, who checks their health and urgently refers them to the CAMHS eating disorder service or paediatrics.
A young person is struggling with self-harm and has taken a serious overdose.
They are seen by a CAMHS liaison professional in A&E, and are then seen for a follow-up appointment a week later.
An autistic young person has significant social anxiety, has been out of school for a few weeks and feels unable to return.
They are seen by a CAMHS professional, who works with them to understand their anxiety around school and social interactions.
A young person is struggling with depression, anxiety and body dysmorphia and is experiencing significant social isolation. They are reluctant to go to school and their grades are falling.
They are seen by a CAMHS professional connected to their school and then referred to their local CAMHS clinic.
