Dr Shonazee Somani
International Medical Graduate Representative
Dr Somani is a CT3 working in Glasgow. Originally from Warangal, India, she took her first steps as an IMG working in the UK in 2020. Though she is still early in her career, she is motivated to share her experience with other IMGs who navigate these complex waters alongside her.
She has helped in delivering the RCPsych IMG conference in 2022 and has presented as a panel member for Psychiatry on other IMG conferences. She helped organise "Peer Mentorship" in NE of England which has helped IMGs settle into their first jobs in NHS at the trust with peer support and has won the rep team Innovator of the year award by the trust.
Her introduction to Psychiatry sprouted from her love of stories, and on her days off, you will find her curled up with a book and chai (or going through various coffee roasts and pouring poor latte art). She is happy to be contacted for any IMG related issues.
