Professor Suzan Joon Song

Dr. Suzan Song is Harvard- and Stanford-trained child psychiatrist, currently Director of the Division of Child/Adolescent & Family Psychiatry at George Washington University and adviser to the U.S. State Department on human trafficking. She has been a humanitarian mental health and psychosocial consultant to UNICEF, the UN Refugee Agency, and other international organizations, working with children and families in armed conflict across sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. Domestically, Dr. Song was medical director of a survivors of torture program for 8 years and served unaccompanied children in the post-release community, asylum seekers, refugees, and children exploited for trafficking. Her book, Child, Adolescent & Family Refugee Mental Health: A Global Perspective, was published with the senior mental health adviser of the UN Refugee Agency and she is working on her second book on managing instability.
