National Resident Doctors' Conference

The National Resident Doctors' Conference is a two-day annual event held in collaboration with the Psychiatric Trainees' Committee (PTC).

Aimed at promoting exciting updates and events in psychiatry, and encouraging networking for resident doctors, it is a hugely popular conference which has sold out for the past few years.

Our theme for our 2025 conference is 'Empowering Minds, Transforming Lives', and covers a wide range of topics to assist Resident Doctors as clinicians and as individuals.

Join us in the heart of Birmingham for an exciting and diverse programme, as well as social and fringe events.

Day one: Essential skills for success

Sessions on this day will focus on you as the clinician and the individual, including content on the following:

  • preparing for MRCPsych
  • consultant interview masterclass
  • ST4 self-assessments
  • balancing clinician wellbeing and person life
  • and more: including parallel sessions, poster exhibits, networking receptions.

Day two: The psychiatrist with the patient

The second half of our conference will focus on clinical care and how you work with your patients, including content on the following:

  • psychopathology
  • psychedelics/new treatments
  • climate and ecological crisis: what can psychiatrists do?
  • use of psychosurgery for substance misuse
  • ethical and legal responsibilities to using AI as a clinician.
