Welcome to the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. On this page you can join the Faculty, get involved with research, find training programmes and access a wide range resources to help you in your working life.



The Faculty’s focus is the mental wellbeing of young people and their families. Contributing to and using an established knowledge base to inform practice, we:

  • Promote the training of medical students, doctors and qualified psychiatrists
  • Provide a forum for the exchange of experience and research
  • Organise meetings (national and local) to promote professional development and networking
  • Seek to influence public policy

The RCPsych Paediatric Liaison Network

The RCPsych Paediatric Liaison Network is an international group of child and adolescent psychiatrists who work with paediatric staff. We discuss clinical and non-clinical issues, particularly policy and the promotion of mental health in paediatric practice. We meet in conferences in various UK locations twice a year.  If you are interested in joining, contact the group c/o Stella Galea, committee manager.


The Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Surveillance System (CAPSS) Based within the College Centre for Quality Improvement (CCQI), CAPSS assists clinicians and researchers in ascertaining nationally cases of rare childhood mental health conditions. 



Child in Mind Podcast

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families launches a series of expert podcasts to help parents understand and manage child and family mental health problems. One episode per month will be released, and each episode will be hosted on both the Anna Freud National Centre's iTunes podcast channel (click subscribe to listen) and Soundcloud account.
