Saiqa Akhtar

Senior QI Advisor

Saiqa has worked at the NCCMH since 2015 where she began as a Researcher. Saiqa now works in the Quality Improvement (QI) team which she has been a part of since its inception. She has worked on several national quality improvement collaboratives including Reducing Restrictive Practice, Suicide Prevention and Sexual Safety as part of the Mental Health Safety Improvement programme (MHSIP) and wider programmes of work.  

Saiqa currently works as a part of the QI Leadership team as a Senior Quality Improvement Advisor leading on QI collaboratives such as Advancing Mental Health Equity (AMHE) and Demand, Capacity and Flow (DC&F). Her current role includes supporting Quality Improvement coaches to coach teams taking part in national QI collaboratives.  

Saiqa has a passion for Human Rights and addressing inequalities in mental health care, particularly inequalities faced by minortised ethnic groups/communities, and she is also a member of the African Caribbean Forum at the RCPsych.
