Child psychiatrist and family therapist teacher and researcher, planetary health activist. Retired professor, Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (FAMED-UFRGS), Brazil. Graduated from Medical School (FAMED-UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil, 1972. Internship and residency in Psychiatry, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Temple University, Philadelphia, USA 1973-76. Fellowship in Child Psychiatry and Family Therapy, Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, Pennsylvannia University, 1976-79. Practicums and metapracticums in family therapy, Accademia di Psicoterapia Familiare di Roma, Italia, starting 1984. Master and PhD in Clinical Medicine, FAMED-UFRGS, 1996-2002. Co-founder and co-coordinator Instituto da Família, Porto Alegre, Brasil, starting 1981. Co-founder of the Residency in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the Hospital de Clinicas, FAMED-UFRGS. One of the family therapy pioneers in Brazil.
