The College recognises that the Christmas period can be a difficult time for anyone, especially those affected by a mental health problem, including family, friends and carers.
Whilst the College is unable to provide direct support, we have a large number of mental health resources online which give information – both to people who may be experiencing mental health problems and for their friends, family and carers.
Our mental health resources are written by psychiatrists and include guidance on self-care and treatment options. Each resource also includes a list of organisations and services that can provide more direct support.
Urgent support
If you’re feeling desperate, it’s important to let someone know how you feel. If possible, speak to friends or to a family member or carer. Alternatively, you can contact one of the free helplines below for support:
- Samaritans: 116 123 (available 24/7) or email jo@samaritans.org
- Saneline: 0300 304 7000 (4pm to 10pm every day)
In an emergency, those in the UK can call 999.
Please note that the College will be closed between 21 December and 1 January.
