About us

The Syrian Refugees Task Force has been set up in order to share information on the needs of refugees fleeing the conflict in Syria. The Taskforce will keep the RCPsych International Advisory Committee (IAC) informed on issues related to the mental health needs of  Syrian Refugees and aims to raise the profile of this humanitarian crisis amongst UK psychiatrists.

The Taskforce hopes to work with other agencies and groups, including the Syrian Association for Mental Health and the British Arab Psychiatric Association, and to utilize the RCPsych Volunteer Scheme, in order to meet the mental health needs to Syrian Refugees.

Dr Mohammed Abou Saleh, Dr Peter Hughes and Dr Nadim Almoshmosh have been instrumental in setting up this Taskforce and have been representing the RCPsych at a number of meetings to discuss how to UK can respond to the health needs to refugees from the crisis.

The Syrian Refugees Taskforce has no political or religious affiliations.

The First Syrian Refugees Taskforce event took place on 21st July 2016, with the dates of future events to be announced soon. For the summary report of the event, please click here.
