Anastasios Galanopoulos
Dr Galanopoulos works as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the National Adult ADHD and ASD Services. He has worked for the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust since 2012. He has wide experience of general adult and developmental psychiatry, having worked with patients across a range of clinical settings.
He specialises in the assessment and management of ASD and ADHD in adults as well as associated sleep difficulties and mental health conditions. Through his role as clinical lead, he has extensive experience in the design, development and delivery of services for adult ADHD and ASD.
He is a member of the Neuropsychiatry and General Adult Psychiatry Faculties of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Autism Spectrum Disorder in Adulthood Group. He is a member of Medicines Safety Committee at the Trust and has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of shared care pathways between primary care and tertiary services.
He holds an honorary academic post at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College, London. His educational role includes undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching as well as MSc courses. He holds the role of Educational Supervisor in the London Deanery for Psychiatry Specialty Training. He also provides regular training for primary and secondary care on local and national levels.
His research interests include the neurobiology of adult ADHD and ASD as well as the presence of sleep difficulties in neurodevelopmental disorders. He is a member of the American Association of Sleep Medicine. He is a frequent speaker at the Sleep Annual Meeting in the United States and other national and international conferences covering neurodevelopmental disorders, sleep and the design and development of diagnostic services for adult ADHD and ASD.
