Neurodiversity In The Workplace (Autism and ADHD) Webinar

The webinar will cover neurodiversity in the workplace, with a focus on Autism and ADHD. Neurodiversity is becoming more recognised however it's important that colleagues have an understanding of the strengths and challenges that neurodiversity brings.

The webinar will provide important guidance for colleagues and will be presented by a neurodiverse clinician who will share their experiences and advice. There will also be a talk from a Consultant Psychiatrist for Adult Neurodevelopmental Pathways, who will speak on ADHD in doctors and medical students.

Please note this event will be hosted by the Trent Division but open to all. The event will be recorded and made available to all registered delegates for two months following the live event.

Speakers include:

• Dr Tahleel Javed – Specialty Doctor, and CEO of The Society for Tourette's, Autism and Neurodiversity
• Dr Ulrich Müller-Sedgwick – Consultant Psychiatrist for Adult Neurodevelopmental pathways, and Neurodevelopmental Representative, Clinical and Professional Advisory Forum (CPAF)

Dr Tahleel Javed
Dr Javed is a passionate young doctor hailing from Pakistan and currently working as a speciality doctor in the UK. She is a published author in peer-reviewed journals and has garnered various accolades during the course of her academic and professional career both nationally and internationally. Dr Javed is also a CEO for the Society for Tourette’s ,Autism and Neurodiversity (STAND) a global charity, registered in the UK, that campaigns to promote awareness about neurodevelopmental conditions via the neurodiversity approach and is a representative for the BMA WM region, a member of the Neurodiversity Steering group for NHS England,  and a participant in Autism development group for the Royal College of Psychiatrists.  

She has been previously featured on BBC , UK health radio,  and various podcasts / magazines , including the Royal College of Psychiatrists Insight magazine and blogs.

Abstract
Dr Javed will be talking about the visibly invisible struggles of the neurodivergent staff members and will be providing a brief insight into simple measures that colleagues can take to help create a nurturing and supportive work environment  for neurodivergent members of staff.

Dr Ulrich Müller-Sedgwick
Ulrich Müller-Sedgwick, MD (Uni Würzburg) PhD (Uni Leipzig) works for the Government of Jersey as consultant psychiatrist & lead for adult neurodevelopmental pathways. From 2017-21 he was the lead clinician for the Barnet Enfield Haringey (BEH) Mental Health NHS Trust Adult ADHD Service in North London, where he continues to hold an honorary consultant position. From 2003-17 he was based in Cambridge, where he developed the Adult ADHD Service for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and directed an adult ADHD research group at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, where he continues to be affiliated as Visiting Research Fellow. Ulrich is a Life Member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge. He teaches and lectures at universities and mental health trusts in London, Cambridge & Channel islands.

Dr Müller-Sedgwick is Academic secretary & executive committee member of the Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Special Interest Group (NDPSIG) of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych), founding member (since 2008) and former president (2019-21) of the UK Adult ADHD Network (www.UKAAN.org). He is also a member of the RCPsych Psychopharmacology Committee. He is a regular speaker at national training events and international scientific conferences. He has published more than 140 book chapters and papers (109 on PubMed, >6000 citations, WoS h-index 42).

In his free time, Ulrich enjoys family and outdoor activities, plays the viola in the Jersey Symphony Orchestra (JSO) and studies to become a musicologist (with special interest in the link between musical creativity and mental health).
