RCPsych Wales partner with Public Health Wales & Improvement Cymru for the Wales International Dementia Conference

RCPsych Wales are pleased to announce that the Wales International Dementia Conference, entitled Advancing Dementia Care Cymru, will be hosted as a virtual online event on the 2 and 3 February 2021. 

The joint initiative with Public Health Wales and Improvement Cymru aims to bring together people with dementia, their carers, practitioners, voluntary sector, policymakers, health and social care professionals, researchers, academics and innovators from across Wales and beyond to hear about the latest research and innovation that will have an impact on improving dementia care.

Dr Chineze Ivenso, Old Age psychiatry faculty chair RCPsych Wales, said:

'This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the dementia research and innovative practice Wales and other nations are undertaking to advance dementia care, particularly regarding the current Covid-19 pandemic.

The conference brings together an international mix of presenters promoting dementia research and practice from across the world and we are pleased to be partnering with Public Health Wales Improvement Cymru and NHS Wales to bring the event to fruition. '

There will be three conference themes:

  • Dementia Care Research – the latest dementia research including research conducted during the Covid19 pandemic that can offer evidence, insight and learning.
  • Quality Improvement – developing initiatives to support: improvement in practice, systems, skills, technology, and approaches to care, including learning from Covid19
  • Living with Dementia – initiatives and learning that have a direct positive impact on the person and those that provide care striving to achieve the best outcomes for all, including learning from Covid19

Call for speakers: The deadline for abstract submissions is January 15th 2021 – please find the necessary abstract document to complete here. 

Poster Presentations: We welcome poster submissions to showcase in the market place. There will also be an opportunity to present your work at the poster presenter’s sessions. Please submit your poster presentations by Jan 15th 2021 in PDF format to Sue Loizos.
