We are delighted to announce the launch of the RCPsych Wales SAS Network. The network will help to connect SAS Psychiatrists throughout Wales and was formally launched on Friday 9 May, at the inaugural RCPsych Wales SAS Network Conference 'SAS What’s New?'.
The conference itself was a celebration of the career development of SAS Psychiatrists in Wales, drawing from the experience of seasoned SAS Psychiatrists who have successfully navigated the transition from resident doctor to SAS doctor and have achieved sustainability in their careers.
The conference welcomed SAS doctors, regardless of the career path they had chosen, or whether the grade is a temporary or permanent.
There were various speakers who covered a number of career development pathways and roles available to SAS psychiatrists working in Wales.
Dr Lily Read, Chair of the RCPsych SAS Committee, detailed the SAS Strategy which she has worked tirelessly on, with the consequential advent of new roles for SAS doctors in the College.
Dr Jacqueline Palmer, RCPsych Wales SAS Rep, said:
"In terms of the Network, it is essential we have a representative in each health board. These roles are open to all SAS doctors’ whether in the NHS or private sector (the role can be done jointly). Remember the Network is for everyone. The RCPsych will keep you informed through the network and will want to hear from you in your demographic area. Ignite your voice and change through action."
If you would like to get involved with the SAS activities within the college, please contact Alison or Jacqui on email.
