For the next generation of psychiatry at the Congress
10 June, 2024
Next week, we will all be together to enjoy the incredible experience of the RCPsych International Congress 2024 in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. As Psychiatric Trainees’ Committee (PTC) Officers, we will be there to welcome you, the future of Psychiatry, to another edition of this emblematic event.
Going to your first RCPsych Congress is a memorable experience. It does not matter when that happens in your career, but it is an opportunity not to be missed. We are sure you are in for a treat if you come this year. We prepared a guide for trainees and medical students with our recommendations. Having so much to choose from can be overwhelming. Maybe take time to familiarise yourself with all the concurrent opportunities you will have access to, look at your PS-PDP, and identify which sessions can help further your training. You might also want to attend some of the fringe, social and wellbeing events. Making it a “good enough” experience for each of you is our priority!
We will be there to meet you and support you at the Student and Trainees’ Lounge. This is a space, like a Mess in any busy hospital, to take some time out and meet with your psychiatry tribe (trainees and students alike). We will have available the new edition of the Registrar, our quarterly PTC magazine (check previous editions).
We will also be hosting some lunchtime events at our Lounge and would be great if you could come along. We also would welcome our Psychiatry educators to come and join us for these sessions.
- Monday 17 June: 1.05pm - 1.55pm Trainee wellbeing, coaching and mentoring
- Tuesday 18 June 1.40pm - 2.40pm Meet the College Officers
- Wednesday 19 June 1.10pm - 2.10pm Meet the Chief Examiner
- Thursday 20 June 1.10pm - 2.10pm Meet the PTC Officers
We hope you can join us at our student and trainee social at Volcano Falls Adventure Golf on Tuesday 18 June at 8.30 pm. We will embrace the spirit of friendly competition in an event that we hope will facilitate networking with friends and colleagues. The tickets (price is £28.00) need to be purchased in advance on the College website
If you are coming on Sunday to Edinburgh, you may want to come and support the core trainee team from 6-8pm at the Mindmasters Quiz 2024.
The PTC is composed of national, divisional, and selected other representatives from across the UK. We want trainees to be at the heart of the College work and this is another opportunity for us to hear from you, first hand, about your experiences. After the congress, you can discover more on the PTC website page about the work we do for you, or link in with us via X @RCPsychTrainees or by emailing us at ptcsupport@rcpsych.ac.uk.
On behalf of the Psychiatric Trainee Committee, we hope you have a wonderful time at the Congress. We can’t wait to meet you there!
