Dean of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Dr Kate Lovett welcomes the report by NHS Providers

Statement / comment
02 December 2016

This report (The State of the Provider Sector) paints a concerning picture of our national health service. A significant cultural shift is needed within the NHS to sustain environments that attract and retain high quality staff.

We know this is a concern across many medical fields, but particularly within psychiatry where training places have historically been under filled. In order to recruit and retain the brightest and the best staff in Mental Health we need to ensure that services are properly funded to enable front line staff to be able to consistently deliver the standard of care their patients need.
