RCPsych journals impact factor success

Online news
20 July 2020

We are delighted to announce that the online-only, open access RCPsych journal, BJPsych Open, has been accepted to the Web of Science and has achieved a first impact factor of 2.286. This is a huge testament to the hard work of so many and we would particularly like to thank Editor-in-Chief, Professor Kenneth Kaufman, our publishing partner Cambridge University Press, and all our authors, editors and reviewers.

The new impact factor will boost the profile and growth of the journal as it is considered an important metric for authors, institutions and readers. The calculation is based on a two-year period and involves dividing the number of times articles were cited by the number of articles that are citable.

This exciting news was released during the journal’s fifth anniversary month and the latest celebratory news and content is hosted on the BJPsych Open anniversary hub.

We are also pleased to let you know that BJPsych received an impact factor of 7.850, representing an increase of 0.617. BJPsych is now ranked 7th out of 141 psychiatry journals. The journal is led by Editor-in-Chief, Professor Kamaldeep Bhui CBE, supported by an active team of editors and editorial board members.

We publish a broad range of metrics for BJPsych authors and readers to assess the quality and impact of the journal (below) and these are updated regularly on the Metrics page. Please visit the BJPsych collection of impactful research.
