Professor Eve Johnstone from the University of Edinburgh discusses the above paper published in the December 2007 issue of the British Journal of Psychiatry. This research tests the hypothesis that among young people with mild intellectual disability, there are those whose cognitive difficulties may predict the subsequent manifestion of a schizophrenic phenotype and whether these are detectable by simple means.
