Letter from the Leadership and Management Fellow Scheme Director

Welcome to the Royal College of Psychiatrists Leadership and Management Fellow Scheme.

We believe in the value of strong medical leadership to deliver high quality care to patients.

We provide a unique opportunity to support the formation of a national network of emerging medical leaders, through a combination of a high impact leadership development programme, and a local apprenticeship model.

With the support of their local organisation, the scheme is open to all higher specialty trainees in any psychiatric sub-specialty, and occurs in-programme, utilising special interest time over a 12-month period.

To date, we have connected over 30 mental health organisations, through over 90 fellows, who continue to develop through our emerging alumni network.

Our leadership development programme is delivered by a faculty of established psychiatric leaders and is accredited by the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, being mapped onto all four domains of the FMLM Leadership and Management Standards for Medical Professionals.

We consistently strive to improve our offer and welcome fresh perspectives. It is both a privilege and a pleasure to lead the scheme and please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you would like to know more.
