Dr Declan Hyland

Dr Declan Hyland has served on the Executive Committee for the RCPsych North West Division since 2014, initially as Deputy Lead for Recruitment from 2014 to 2018, then as an Executive Member from 2016 to 2018, and most recently as Chair of the Division from 2018 to 2022. In June 2022, he will start a further term as an Executive Member of the North West Division Executive Committee.
Dr Hyland’s main areas of interest are undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, recruitment to psychiatry and training. He is the undergraduate psychiatry lead at the University of Liverpool, where he has a contract as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, and represents Liverpool on the RCPsych’s Undergraduate Education Forum.
Dr Hyland has been actively involved with the work of the RCPsych’s “Choose Psychiatry” Committee since 2014 and is heavily involved with the “Psych Stars” scheme run by the College. He is also a member of the RCPsych’s Trainee Support Group.
Dr Hyland served on the MRCPsych Paper A Exam Panel from 2017 to 2018 and currently sits on the MRCPsych Clinical Topics Exam Panel, as Deputy Chair. He is also the current serving Chair of the MRCPsych Quality Assurance Panel. Dr Hyland is a CASC Examiner with the College.
Dr Hyland is also a CESR Evaluator and a member of the RCPsych Equivalence Committee.
