Dr Mohan Bhat
Chair, Old Age Psychiatry
Dr Mohan Bhat has been a consultant old age psychiatrist for the last 22 years . He started his Career in UK as an IMG graduate in 1994. He is passionate about medical education and service developments for older adults with a particular interest in supporting IMG graduates and Speciality doctors having been both at some point in his career. He was awarded 'Trainer of the Year' by the Royal college of Psychiatrists in 2015.
He completed MBA early on in his career, he has been the Director of medical education and currently is the Deputy Chief medical officer at Kent and Medway partnership Trust. He also has held the role of Associate director of Education and training at UCLPartners where he was instrumental in setting up the North London Simulation training group and also the UCLP sponsored Management course of Higher trainees and middle managers in NHS. He also chaired the Joint HEE- and UCLP-led 'Breaking down the Barriers' programme. He has been the chair of the Pan London Healthy London partnership led Community mental health transformation group for older adult mental health services. More recently he has been the clinical lead at Kent and Medway ICB for Community mental health transformation for older adult mental services.
He has been associated with the Faculty of Old Psychiatry for the last 6 years and has been the Academic secretary and the finance officer before taking on the role as the Chair for the Faculty of old age Psychiatry.
