Dr Sandeep Matthews

Dr Sandeep Mathews is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Associate Medical Director at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. He trained in Kent and North West England and took up Consultant roles in North Wales and Manchester. His career has included managerial roles as Clinical Director in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Associate Medical Director in GMMH NHS Foundation Trust. He has always been interested in psychiatric training and has been clinical and educational supervisor for core and higher trainees as well as mentoring many of these colleagues into successful careers in the health service. He has served on clinical reference groups for NHS England in both Adult Secure Care and Health and Justice.
His current priorities are in retaining the trained workforce in successful and satisfying jobs in the United Kingdom, promoting excellence in training and retaining the primacy of academic arguments in conversations about services for mentally disordered persons in contact with the criminal justice system right through the pathway from liaison and diversion, custody, prisons, secure hospitals and beyond.
