Dr Suhana Ahmed
Chair, London Division
Dr Suhana Ahmed is a Consultant Psychiatrist – dual trained (Old Age & General Adult). She is currently working in an Old Age inpatient setting at South West London and St George’s NHS Trust. She is Director of Medical Education at the Trust this year and Supported Return to Training Champion.
Suhana has been heavily involved with the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) as Finance Officer at the London Division and Startwell Lead. She is delighted to be appointed Chair of the Division, executive member of the Old Age Faculty and Educational Lead for RCPsych Leadership and Management Fellowship Scheme.
She is interested in training, flexible working and supporting leadership and career progression in working parents. She has been a Fellow with the award-winning organisation Leadersplus, has contributed to their podcast series and now runs a mental health workshop for their programme.
She is passionate about the impact of and stigma surrounding postnatal depression having talked at RCPsych international Congress and had an article published about her experiences in the Independent in recent years.
She is mummy to an 9-year-old boy and loves cats, reading and cake.
