Frequently asked questions

Submitting

Yes, you can submit more than one abstract.
Please name no more than five co-authors in your submission (including yourself if you are an author). If you have more than five named authors please check the 'et al' box, you can also include their names in the abstract text or on the poster itself.

One of the poster authors must be nominated to be the presenting author. The presenting author will be our first point of contact and is expected to register and attend at least one day of the Congress. They will also be nominated to present the poster if the submission is accepted for a rapid fire presentation.

All correspondence will be sent to the presenting author only (please check junk/spam folders also).

Yes, you can still submit your abstract but it can not be included in the supplement to the BJPsych Open.

Once the submission deadline has passed no further amendments can be made to your abstract, even if you are selected to present. Please ensure that all the information in your abstract is correct and how you would want it to appear published.

Some International, Divisions and Devolved Nations have a limited number of bursaries available for those based in their region. These are allocated to the presenting authors only.

You can apply for these as part of the abstract submission process as long as the presenting author has met the relevant criteria.

Please view the bursary page for more information.

There is an option to indicate that you would like to be considered for a bursary on the submission form.

The college has a limited number of bursaries and complimentary registrations available to the highest scoring submissions who are not already in receipt of funding from the College to attend.

For full information on bursaries, please visit our bursary page.

Unfortunately submissions received after the poster deadline (Friday 7 February 2025, 5pm) will not be accepted. Similarly any incomplete submissions will not be considered after this point.

Judging

Unfortunately, due to the high number of abstracts we receive, it is not possible for us to provide individual feedback on abstracts.

Once the submission deadline has passed (Friday 7 February), all posters will be reviewed by the Committee. We are hoping to send results out mid-March.

Successful abstracts will be confirmed and submitting authors will be notified via email – please check your junk/spam folders also.

Presenting

Posters will be presented as an ePoster. You will not be required to produce a physical poster.

The top-scoring posters will be given the opportunity to present their work as a rapid-fire poster presentation. All rapid fire presenters will present face to face.

The committee invites a number of top-scoring abstracts to orally present a summary of their poster to a group of delegates within a five-minute slot. These are grouped into categories.

Yes, all posters will be displayed digitally on electronic screens at the venue.

Yes, your poster will be displayed over the four days of Congress.

The lead author needs to be registered for at least one day of Congress.

You only need to register for one day of Congress and your poster will be displayed throughout.

Yes, all accepted authors will receive a certificate indicating that their poster was displayed at the 2025 RCPsych International Congress.

Those who took part in a rapid-fire presentation or a 'pitch your poster' session will receive a supplementary certificate also.

Please email congress.posters@rcpsych.ac.uk if you wish to withdraw your poster. Please note that once the BJPsych Open Supplement has been submitted your abstract cannot be removed. You will however be able to opt out of displaying your poster at the Congress.

Publication

NB We ask that you do not publish your abstract in the BJPsych Open Supplement if it has been published elsewhere.

Once the submission deadline has passed no further amendments can be made, even if you are selected to present. Please ensure that all the information in your abstract is correct and how you would want it to appear published.
