Celebrating SAS Doctors week
14 October, 2022
The College has been supporting NHS Employers SAS week from 10-14 October.
The stories of SAS doctors have been going out through our social media channels to display the many different ways a career as a SAS doctor can be rewarding.
It’s been great to hear about their stories and experiences, and convey the variety and fulfilment our SAS members take from their careers.
As SAS doctors make up 25% of the psychiatric workforce, the work they do is essential to keeping services running and we wanted to do our small part in helping to celebrate that.
You can read our SAS by choice blog posts to find out more about how doctors have chosen their pathway:
- Success, timing and the 'SAS-by-Choice' privilege
- Dr Janine Griffiths finds fulfilment in being SAS by choice
Throughout the week we have been highlighting all the resources that are available to SAS Doctors at the college, promoting the SAS charter and generally thanking all our SAS colleagues for all their work in psychiatry.
RCPsych in Scotland have also produced a webinar which is available to view online for free. The webinar is tailored for both applicants of the Certificate for Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) and those supporting said applicants in Scotland. It aims to help SAS doctors break down some of the mystery around the CESR .
RCPsych President Dr Adrian James said:
“SAS doctors are a core part of patient care for those with mental illness. I have personally witnessed their skill, hard work and dedication.
“From me, and from the whole College - thanks so much to each and every SAS doctor for all you do.”
