14 June 2018

In response to suggestions that the Government will lift the Tier 2 visa cap for doctors and nurses, we made the following statement:

“We are delighted to hear reports that the government will be lifting restrictions on Tier 2 visas for doctors and nurses.

"For many years, mental health services have benefitted from the contributions of psychiatrists coming to the UK from overseas.

"The government’s decision would help patients and ensure that we can continue our drive to improve mental health services.”

Dr Adrian James, Registrar

Note - on 15 June 2018 it was  confirmed that these restrictions were being lifted.
