Royal College of Psychiatrists responds to Huntercombe investigation

Statement / comment
28 October 2022
It’s devastating to hear the allegations of the awful treatment of 22 young women in a mental health hospital group over the last decade.

People living with a serious mental illness, including eating disorders deserve the best possible care, using evidence-based treatment.

Dignity and respect should be at the heart of mental healthcare and staff should be better trained with the skills and knowledge to support people with severe mental illness, including eating disorders. Full recovery is possible with access to the right specialist help and treatment.
