MedFest 2015
21 January 2015
The Royal College of Psychiatrists is pleased to announce the return of MedFest – the UK’s only medical film festival. Now in it’s 5th year, the theme of Medfest 2014 is ‘Global Medicine & Civilizations’.
Each spring, the Medfest central committee selects and screens medically themed short films to audiences at medical schools across the UK.
In 2015 events will take place at over 25 medical schools in UK and, for the first time, Medfest will be entering Europe (Portugal) along with other new territories – with events at two centres in Pakistan, India, Canada, South Africa, Australia and US. This year we will be holding over 30 free events at medical schools and hope to reach a combined audience of more than 3,000 people.
Arts & Music
This year’s theme of ’Global Medicine & Civilizations’ have already generated a lot of interest amongst trainees and mental health professionals abroad. This year we will be holding two ‘Medfest Arts & Music’ in Manchester and London in May 2015. MedFest Arts and music will be a joint collaboration of patients, trainees and medical students. We are also planning to have a Gala event at Royal College of Psychiatrists around June 2015.
All Medfest events are free. The majority of MedFest audiences comprise medical students, though the events are relevant to all mental health professionals and film fans. Members of the public are very welcome. The Royal College of Psychiatrists has supported MedFest since it was founded in 2011. Additional funding comes from a number of national and local sources.
